Free induction training

You will need to undertake standard induction Care Certificate training before you begin work. We hold regular training sessions to make it an easier choice to join Leaf and so you feel confident in doing your job.

What is the Recruitment process?
We undertake thorough recruitment processes as you will be working in people’s homes. We will carry out an interview either face to face or via skype, we will invite you to our induction training which we offer at various locations and we even have a residential training centre where you can stay free of charge during the training events. We will need to do a full DBS check and obtain 2 professional references. Your recruitment link worker will support you with your application to Leaf Care Services.

Does the work level change?

We have care plans and risk assessments for all our customers which provides you with a guide for all work.

Is there support available to me when I work as a carer?

On Joining Leaf Care, you will be assigned an area manager who will provide you with ongoing support which includes mentoring and coaching to carry out your job.

Do I need to be able to drive?
We offer a range of positions as we support people in lots of locations, this means we hire both drivers and walkers.

Is the work flexible?

You will work in a team to provide your role, we have different types of work on offer within the teams to support your lifestyle choices and work you require.

Live-in Care Q&A’s

We recruit experienced and non- experienced carers to join this team as we provide a full training programme and support plan for all our carers. The work ranges from companionship care to complex care which means we can provide you with work to suit your skills.

Is there training prior to working?
There are weekly training events at various locations including residential training centres where you can stay free of charge.  The initial training runs for 2-3 days and you have to attend the training to begin working for Leaf Live-in Services.

An alternative to the residential training, there is an  on-line induction training courses accessible via our online training services.

Is there the option for on going development?
We employ many different people who want to further their career in health and social care professions.  We provide in house training and have opportunities for funded places for our carers which means you get free training whilst you work.  We have supported people go on to become nurses, doctors and social workers or who have furthered their careers in health care such as nursing assistants, social work assistants, emergency services, mental health workers and many more.
Are there regular breaks and time off?
Leaf Live-in will ensure that the carer receives adequate rest breaks and that the client allows the carer an uninterrupted break of 2 hours a day, during which time the carer is entitled to rest or sleep in private or leave the premises.

 

Are there work patterns?
We have work from one week to longer term placements.  We offer working times such as one week on, two weeks on two weeks off, three weeks on one week off, six weeks on four weeks off, longer term placements, term time placements and holiday cover.

What will be my first placement?
Your dedicated link worker at Leaf Live-in will complete a matching process based on your skills, areas and shifts choices. We can offer you further training to increase your skills which include dementia care, end of life care, brain injury support, stoke awareness to name a few. At your first placement your link worker will ensure you are settled in your first placement and understand the remits of your job. We will contact you on a weekly basis to check on the job. You will receive you own board and lodgings together with food allowances. Most of the bedrooms are fitted with TV and access to Wi-fi.

 

Is the work guaranteed?
We have work for all our Live-in applicants.  We support a range of people within our Live-in services across the UK.

The care is provided in small group living houses.  The residents are supported by you the carer to live their lives, you will need to provide support in the following areas, personal care, health care monitoring, encouragement of daily routines, shopping at the onsite shop, planning daily meals, cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, chatting & entertaining.

What support do I receive?
You receive daily support by the registered manager, the senior carers, head cook, facilities manager, medication champions and social behaviour coach.

Visiting health care professionals including nurses, GPs and occupational therapists.

Is the work flexible?
Shifts are Morning, Evening and Night Shifts with a commitment to alternative weekend working. Full time, part time and shift work available.

Is there training available to further my career?

We employ carers who have not worked in the UK before. We find that people have a lot of care experience from their life back home – either in a personal or professional setting and want to use their skills whilst experiencing life in the UK. The Live-in team is an ideal choice.

We employ carers who are travelling across Europe and are looking for work during gap years, or holiday time whilst studying in the UK.  The Live-in team is an ideal choice as it allows you the flexibility to work in between your other commitments.

Carers who live in Europe
We employ carers who live overseas and travel to their placements in the UK from addresses in Europe. We provide care from 2 weeks to longer-term placements and this allows you to work and live outside of the UK.

You will have a link worker at Leaf Live-in who can support your application and offer expert advice and guidance taking you through the training needs, and getting you ready for your first placement.

You will need:

› The right to work in the UK

› Proof of identification: Passports/ EU Identity Card

› A UK national insurance number, or the ability to obtain one, we can apply for a temporary national insurance number

› Monies to travel to the training centre

What are the language requirements?
You will need to speak and understand English to a high standard and be able to record basic written data entry during your work placements.

Will there be background checks?

We can only employ you if we satisfy our legal checks which include a Police check, so you will need to tell us if you have any previous criminal convictions, cautions or reprimands.  We will need to apply for 2 professional references to support your application.

Will I need a UK bank account?
We need to pay you direct into a UK bank account on behalf of our clients.  You will need to set up a UK bank account either before or on arrival to the UK.  We can forward some helpful information about how to do this before you arrive or when you arrive for your training we can give you a letter showing our UK address which you will need to open an account.

Do I need a UK National Insurance Number?
Everyone needs a UK National Insurance Number to work in the UK. To start with, we can put you on a temporary national insurance number. You will need to get your National Insurance number within 1-2 months. To get one you will need to make an appointment at your local benefits office or job centre who will conduct a short interview and you will need to show them your right to work. Before arriving check you may have a NI number printed on the back of your biometric residence permit.
